A quick run and looking for some help

While my sleep schedule is still a little messed up, I'm loving Daylight Savings Time.

Seriously. What's not to love about leaving the office at 5:15, coming home and taking my time to change into running gear and still being able to head out for a 3-mile run before the sun starts setting?

I'm not complaining. Love it!

So the run went well. The legs were still a bit achy from Sunday's windy 8-miler, but once I started running (in shorts, again!) and warmed up they felt fine.

I do need some advice from you folks though.

With it getting warmer out and my runs getting longer, I need some option to store stuff like Gu, an ID, cash and a cell phone. My running shorts? While they do have a pocket in the back, I tried it out on Sunday and it wasn't the most user friendly pocket. I could shove my cell phone and ID in the pocket, but then it felt like I was running with a weight on my behind that was pulling my shorts down. Not good. And no place to shove the Gu (thankfully my long-sleeve tech shirt had a small pocket).

So what do you folks use for storage in the warmer weather? I'm thinking of getting some kind of belt thing, but I don't want anything too bulky or anything that's going to be annoying due to bouncing. Any suggestions?

A: RoadID. leave your DL at home.
B: I just use the shorts. don't run with a phone, just the gu's and camelbak. My loose shorts have pockets. not the best thing, but whatever.

most camelbaks have pockets for the phone, and if you put the right amount of water/gatorade in them for the distance, it's not too bad. i love it.

I use whatever pocket is available. There's usually a key pocket and i can fit a gel in there. Sometimes I'll lube up and stash it under the front of a bra strap. I make sure I eat that one first to minimize chafing.

They also make key pockets for shoes, so you could stash one in one of those maybe.

Yeah... I usually leave my phone and DL at home (and wear a Road ID), and don't need Gu unless I'm using my Camelback (that has a pocket). Otherwise, I snatch up shirts that have zipper pockets on them because they rock! I have something like this http://www.asicsamerica.com/products/product.aspx?PRODUCT_ID=240012782&SELECT_PRODUCT_COLOR_ID=240038854&TITLE_CATEGORY_ID=250001563&PARENT_CATEGORY_ID=250001563, but sleeveless and cheaper (probably an older style haha).

I pretty much leave everything at home, and stash a gu in my key pant pocket. I did just see on Tall Mom Run blog a running pouch that she and other commenters seemed to like. hope that helps.

I use a RoadID too and bought the smallest, crappiest cell phone to carry hand in my with me when I run (my friends use a pay as you go phone for this but I just added one to the family plan). With nutrition I typically stash stuff along the route I'm planning to run.

Tall Mom on the Run just reviewed a storage belt that had two useful pockets and didn't bounce. She really liked it. Yeah, for getting outside for a run -- woot!

Road ID is the way to go. No cell phone, just take enough money with you so you could take a cab or call someone if you needed too. I usually just use the shorts pockets or shirt pocket for cash and gu. I haven't had luck with the stuffing in the sports bra, it usually is really gross whenever I take the money out (very sweaty = ewww).

I have both a Spibelt and iFitness belt and love them both. They're small and light, stay put without moving around and hold whatever you need.

Ditto a RoadID. I won't run without mine, even if I'm going to the gym I have it with me. I have a FuelBelt because I'm always thirsty and there is a pocket in the back. I am looking into a iFitness or Spibelt for shorter runs when I don't need gels.

Again on the road ID but they are expensive i think. See link for another idea way cheaper, just as good

Yes, I am loving the "longer" days!

I have never used a belt of any sort, but I have heard many good things. Usually I will just carry my things, annoying, I know.

I need to get a RoadID. The only time I carry my cell phone is when I am biking.

I don't like to carry things, but my water bottle has a pouch on it and i have a shoe pouch, those two things generally get me by.

BLAHH for this new it's dark when I get up crud..I like the light to pop out of bed

Thanks for stopping by my blog and showing me some support! You rock!

I've been wanting to get a belt that's a little more discreet for my shorter run days. I hate carrying my cell phone in my hand when I run and I don't want to take my big water belt. I might try a SpiBelt. I've heard good things!

I have a iFitness belt and also another little belt thing but I wear that in the winter mostly. I usually just strap it on and run with it. Sometimes i am bad and dont run with anything cause its so nice out. Road id is a good idea too!

I use a Nathan's belt that's big enough to hold everything. It never used to bounce but now I'm noticing that it's starting too. I plan to look into the iFitness belts now that they make ones with two pockets. I've heard good things about them.
